Please believe me when I tell you that I have never been as excited about a blog post as this one! What you are about to see is the culmination of years of hard work, chance meetings, and blind trust in the strange way that life sometimes works. It's the product of letting go of the things we think we want so that we can discover and make room for what we really need (on the side of both the artists and the subjects in this case). But most importantly, this is a story of friendship, family, and love. And I'm so happy to have played a part in telling it...
Before we get to the good stuff, I need to take a moment to say that it was an absolute dream come true to join forces with my uber-talented friend, Sean Fresh, to tell the story of The Smith Family! This adorable bunch just happens to belong to another uber-talented friend, Kelsey Smith of Kelsey Smith Photography. It is no small thing to invite a photographer and videographer into your home and trust them to find the beauty in the chaos, but Kelsey did it without hesitation! I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the reward was definitely worth the risk in this case :)
Since the very first time I picked up a camera, I have been drawn toward the joy and love between people. I can honestly say that what you see with The Smith Family is as authentic and beautiful as it gets. They have reinforced my belief that, just like my favorite photos, the best moments in life are messy and real. That is where you find the good stuff.
"You don't have to have it all together now to have it all..."
To my dear, sweet Smith Family. You may not feel like you have it all together now, but you really do have everything that matters. Thank you for inviting us into your sweet little world. It is a true pleasure to witness your love and happiness!
If you're interested in having Sean and I tell your family's story with photos and video please get in touch HERE.
